Golf Society

Ten golfers from England , Scotland and Wales took to the fairways at Sherdley Park Golf Course St. Helens, for the inaugural competition of Kannada Balaga Golf Society on Saturday 18 July 2009. Dr Bhanumathi, our president had initiated this idea to start this competition.

After a light brunch and group photographs KB golfers teed off in glorious weather on a lovely and beautifully maintained golf course. The course itself is an 18 hole undulating golf course which provides a challenge to golfers of all abilities.

After the competition all the golfers were treated to a well deserved refreshing drink and dinner in the club house followed by prize giving. Prizes were presented by the ever popular old friend of Kannada Balaga Prof. A.R.Mithra.

The inaugural competition was won by Bellur Gadadhara of Glenrothes with 37 stableford points. Runner up was Dr. Rajashekar of Grimsby with Dr Ashok Ullageddi winning the nearest the pin prize.

The golf competition will be an annual event in the KB Calendar. The participants in the inaugural event have kindly agreed to present a trophy for this competition. Dr Ashok Ullageddi has kindly volunteered to host the 2010 competition in Shrewsbury . It is hoped that the event will be well supported by members irrespective of their golfing proficiency.
